Social Change Accelerator

The Social Change Accelerator is an initiative designed to help civil society organizations in Romania become more efficient, more sustainable, and better equipped to transform the communities in which they operate.

Through the Social Change Accelerator, NGOs in Romania, regardless of size, cause or location, benefit from organizational development programs, grants, tools, resources, and up-to-date research that allow them to make strategic decisions in terms of operations, fundraising, communication and representation.

The program is a collaborative initiative of the Association for Community Relations (ARC) and the Civil Society Development Foundation and is supported by OMV Petrom and Iulian Stanciu.

Proposed objectives:

  • Supporting NGOs involved in an organizational empowerment process through analysis, planning and implementation of transformational measures;
  • Increasing the fundraising capacity of the organizations participating in the program;
  • Developing communication skills with donors, authorities and the broader community;
  • Strengthening civil society by helping organizations become more resilient and sustainable;
  • Reducing the gap between the fundraising potential and the funds accessed and establishing a common framework for measuring impact.

The program is tailored to the development level of each participating organization, offering customized support and targeted activities across three stages:

  • Emerging NGOs;
  • NGOs in the growth phase;
  • Mature NGOs.

Civil Society Development Foundation (CSDF) coordinates the support provided to emerging NGOs, offering them access to a capacity building processes, hackathons, training, thematic consultancy and development grants.

Main activities include:

  • Involve emerging NGOs in a capacity building process that includes five key stages:
  1. Organizational analysis – identifying needs and areas for growth that are worth developing.
  2. Development hackathon – offline events to connect organizations and identify solutions.
  3. Online courses and workshops – online sessions on relevant topics such as fundraising, project writing, financial management, volunteer management, constituency building, communication and storytelling.
  4. Personalized consulting – individualized support from 1-2 experts to improve the various processes in the team.
  5. Development grants – opportunity to access an organizational development grant (based on a selection process) to implement the issues identified during the process.
  • Developing the ong platform and providing access to learning resources and tools that can contribute to better resource management and improving organizational performance.
  • Conducting research on key issues relevant to the NGO sector.

The Association for Community Relations (ARC) coordinates interventions dedicated to growing and mature NGOs, through strategic planning programs, fundraising, grants and support in defining and measuring the change they bring.

Implementation period: December 2024 – December 2025.
