About the “Efectiv Civic” Program
The Efectiv Civic Program is developed by the Civil Society Development Foundation, in partnership with the Romanian-American Foundation, and aims to increase and strengthen the capacity of NGOs in providing interventions for children and youth in two areas: media literacy and facilitating intercultural dialogue, intercultural understanding, developing a friendly attitude towards diversity among both Romanian children and youth, and refugees/migrants in Romania.
The program is based on three pillars:
- Providing an educational process that gives the targeted NGOs the opportunity to increase their capacity to address/intervene in one of the two areas targeted and important for a functioning society: media literacy and intercultural dialogue.
- Funding, on an annual basis, at least 15 projects relevant for the two target areas: media literacy and intercultural dialogue.
- Capacity building for funded NGOs in order to increase their sustainability and improve their capacity to implement projects.
The program runs for 3 years and started in 2022. Annually, approximately 25-30 NGOs are invited to participate in the educational process and an estimate of15 projects proposed by these organizations will receive funding. All funded projects will have children and young people as main beneficiaries, regardless of the theme of the initiative (media education or intercultural dialogue), and in the field of intercultural dialogue, the involvement of refugee/migrant children and young people from the community where the project is taking place is encouraged.
!The call for application to the Program is by invitation only.
!Only the participants in the educational process are eligible to submit a Grant Application.
The educational process takes about 1 month and a half and consists of:
- Kick-off meeting on each area with all selected organizations
- Domain-specific training sessions (between 3 and 5 sessions)
- Completing an online module on the dedicated platform for media education
- Project Design training session
!It is important to note that all sessions of the educational process will take place online, and the schedule will be communicated in advance to everyone.
After going through the educational process, NGOs will be invited to submit projects from which at least 15 will be selected to receive funding in each year of the Program (2022, 2023 and 2024). Non-reimbursable funding can be up to a maximum of 24,000 USD and projects can have a maximum duration of 6 months.
The call for NGOs to be selected is addressed to organizations that wish to improve their methods of working with children and young people/ refugee/migrant children and young people and are interested in increasing their organizational capacity.
